H.A.R.T. Volunteer Opportunities  

All volunteers are required to attend a one hour training session

Afternoon Assistant: Job Description:  To assistant staff as needed, do laundry, greet the public during open hours.

Duties include: 

  • Greet the public and assist them as needed

  • Keep the laundry done

  • Assist the staff when they need help

  • Make sure things are tidy in front offices

Qualifications:

  • Attend the one hour general training session

  • Attend a one hour special training to become familiar with HART’s  policies and procedures

  • Be pleasant and caring

  • Be able to work without direct supervision

  • Be dependable for showing up to work when scheduled

Dog walkers/companions:  Job Description:  Walk dogs between the hours of 11:00 AM- 4:30 PM

Duties include:

  • Walking dogs in compliance with HART training techniques

  • Exercising dogs in the outdoor kennels

  • Playing with puppies indoors

  • Spending quality time with the dogs

Qualifications:

  • Must be 16 years old to do this job independently

  • Ages 11-15 need to have an adult with them at all times

  • Attend the one hour general training session

  • Attend the special dog walking training session

  • Need to be familiar with dog behaviors

  • Need to be respectful of kennel staff and work under their supervision

Cat Cuddlers: Job Description: Spend quality time with the cats

Duties would include:

Taking cats out of the cages and socializing  them

  • Brushing cats

  • Playing with cats

Qualifications:

  • Must be 16 years old to do this job independently

  • Ages 11-15 need to have an adult with them at all times

  • Attend the one hour general training session

  • Attend cat workshops when they are held

  • Need to be familiar with cat behaviors

  • Be respectful of staff and work under their supervision

Drivers:  “Roadside Rescue”  Job Description:  Transport animals to other rescue groups

Duties would include:

  • Driving animals to other rescue groups

  • The destination usually is St. Cloud but could include the Twin Cities

  • You would be using the HART vehicle

Qualifications:

  • Valid Minnesota driver license

  • Clean driving record

  • Attend the one hour general training session

  • Be flexible on time.  Sometimes you may be asked to drive with short notice

  • Have good people skills

  • Be able to listen to a lot of barking in the van

Foster Home: Job Description: Taking animals into your home for foster care

On-call Volunteers: Job Descriptions: To be on call and able to help when and where you were needed - e.g: special cleaning days, special events held in the community, fundraisers, special  onetime projects
