Snickers
Sadly, Snickers passed away after 18 years, on
April 10th, 2007. She was well-loved and will be missed.
Snickers was a calico domestic shorthair.

I owned an older calico cat when my 11 year old daughter discovered some
calico kittens at a HART pet show at the old Armory that was across from
the PO in downtown Brainerd. She begged for one. They were too young to
adopt at that time. She bugged me constantly about those kittens.
I told Marisa that when my elderly cat died THEN she could have her own
cat. Within two weeks my beloved cat died at age 14. She began to call
around to locate the calico kittens. There was no shelter at that time.
We found them at Vicki Peterson's house in south Brainerd. This kitten
ran up my daughter's leg (kitty claws out! OUCH !) and onto her shoulder
- - and home with us.
Marisa left for college in 1996, and I inherited Snickers. She still
sleeps with Marisa when she is home, a cat knows and bonds with their
first owner. I do feed her and she has transitioned to me over the
years. She is a wonderful lap cat and she has a loud, very soothing
purrrr.
One of the quirky things about this cat is she loves water. She used to
run around the top of Marisa's shower stall. Marisa was always concerned
she would fall in. She jumps in the tub with me now for her bath, she
loves warm water and then a good rub down! Trickling water from the
bathroom faucet is a daily treat for her.
A year ago the vet told me Snickers was starting kidney failure. She has
lost some weight, but otherwise seems to be doing fine. She is elderly
and I am paying special attention to her, knowing that her time with me
is growing shorter.
