Chance

I had been looking for a nice family dog at HART for awhile. I give great credit to the staff at HART; they wanted to find the perfect dog for me. They knew that I had small children, and that the dog had to be kind and gentle. Luckily for me, the perfect dog landed at HART, and I was contacted before he even made his way to the main adoption floor. Within two minutes of seeing the big golden retriever, I knew he was coming home with me.

Chance was obviously well-trained, and he is very mellow. He tolerates my 2-year old playing with his ears. He walks calmly beside me with a slack leash. He hasn’t had any accidents in the house, and he has never taken off from our yard.

It’s a joke in our house that we should have named him Shadow because he won’t leave my side. Every day that I am gone, he sleeps in the entryway, waiting for me. He has been therapy for me. He senses when something is wrong. I struggle with PTSD and when I’m having a bad day, he puts his head in my lap, and just stays by me. When my wife was having a bad day, he stuck right by her side. My kids love him. My three-year old, who was terrified of dogs, has learned to trust and love Chance. He’s been perfect for my family. He is the perfect dog that everyone wants.
