HART Offers Education for All Ages

Whether you are four or eighty-four, HART's professional education team will create a class for you and your peers if we don't already have one.  Our goal is to provide the Lakes Area with classes on the ins and outs of HART, selecting an appropriate pet, pet ownership responsibilities, animal awareness, the importance of spaying/neutering, the horrors of puppy mills and much more.  We welcome any opportunity to "hit the road" and visit community groups or invite them to our shelter. These are the activities currently available at HART:

-----"Young at HART," a class that meets monthly for children 4-11.
This year the children are on a safari in Tanzania, learning about
animals that live in the African wild.
-----"Camp Have a Heart," a one day summer camp for children 8-11.
The camp explores pet ownership and responsibility.
-----HART hosts a variety of student groups, including scout groups,
church groups, honor groups, etc., who learn about the work of
a humane society, tour the facility, make a craft and enjoy a
            snack.
-----HART also helps host birthday parties for children who want to
spend their special day with HART's animals.
-----HART's teachers visit Head Start classes, community ed. programs,
elementary and high school classes, preschools, etc., shaping
            presenations to fit their needs.
-----HART's representatives also visit rotaries, senior citizens' groups
and other adult community groups to discuss HART's work and
share plans for our new building.
----- Finally the education team is currently working on plans to offer a
special day of on-site learning experiences for teens interested
in pursuing careers in pet care.

HART is proud of its multi-dimensional education program and encourages you and your family to take advantage of the opportunities available to you.  For further information or to schedule activities call Donna Wambeke (829-4141) or Jan Germann (828-3449).

“The Many Faces of HART” Presentation Set to Hit the Circuit
If you happened to read Shadow’s article, you probably are wondering about the video that gave him his first, and if he has anything to say about it not his last, starring role. “HART: Thereby Hangs a Tail or Two” takes the viewer on a tour of the shelter with stories, pictures, and music narrated by the Wambeke HART rescue as only a dog can do it. The video will be the lead off segment in a presentation HART board members hope to share with many civic groups throughout the lakes area. The purpose of the presentation is to bring as many community members as possible up to speed on HART’s ever improving animal sheltering and adoption programs, expanding educational opportunities for children of all ages, and ongoing commitments in helping a variety of community based programs for at risk students, developmentally challenged and handicapped individuals.
Currently we are offering our presentation to any group who would like to learn more about the new efforts HART is making to help the community.

If you are a member or leader of any civic or church group that would be interested in inviting us to speak to your organization, just contact Donna Wambeke at (218) 829-4141 or at pamppet@msn.com We can adjust our program to fit your time requirements, and we are willing to present morning, noon or evening whenever your group normally assembles. We hope to hear from you!!!
