homes. HART
only puts
animals that
have special
needs or
requirements
in foster
homes. HART
feels that
the animal
has a better
chance of
getting
adopted if
it is on the
adoption
floor.
Animals that
may need a
foster home:
1.
Moms that a
have babies
2.
An animal
that is ill
with a
treatable
illness
3.
An animal
that has a
specific
behavior
problem that
could be
corrected
with
training
4.
An injured
animal that
is being
treated
Volunteers
requirements:
1.
Must own
your own
home
2.
All foster
homes are
required to
have a home
visit by one
of HART
staff
members
prior to
fostering
3.
Must be
willing to
work with
specific
issues the
animal has
4.
Must agree
to all terms
of the
foster home
contract
All animals
that go into
foster care
are the
property of
HART and
will not be
given away
or sold.
Hart
reserves the
right to ask
that a
foster
animal be
returned to
the shelter.
Foster care
is a
specialty
volunteer
opportunity
and not all
volunteer
are suited
to do the
job.

Care

outdoors

picked up at

If medical

needed you

have prior
permission
before
seeking
treatment.
If you do
take an
animal to
the vet
without
permission
the bill
will not be
paid for

Foster cats
are not to
be outdoor
cats

Foster dogs
must be
confined
with a fence
or leash
while
outdoors
8.
HART or
foster care
provider has
the right to
ask for
foster
animals be
brought back
to the
shelter if
they feel
the home is
not a good
fit

A foster
home cannot
give away
foster
animals
10.
Foster homes
need to be
accessible
to potential
adopter s.
Appointments
will be made

Socializing
of puppies
and kittens
is required

Know that
sometimes
foster
animals have
been exposed
to diseases
that may be
contagious
to your pets

Hart is not
responsible
for damages
