Volunteer Training
Volunteer training will be held as need dictates. Please call the shelter to check on the next training session. Volunteers are required to attend  an initial training session, and then ongoing training, to be qualified to volunteer. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times while he/she is volunteering. HART's insurance mandates this and we can not make exceptions.

If you want to become a HART volunteer fill out the application on the website or at the shelter and we will get you started.  or contact Donna at 828-0548 for more information

Please let us know if you plan to attend any training, and again thank you for thinking of HART

Volunteers needed:

Heartland Animal Rescue Team is always in need of volunteers to help with the following tasks:
  • Walking dogs in the afternoon between 1-4
  • Doing yard clean up.  It is not the prettiest job but it is an important one
  • Doing dishes and laundry in the late morning early afternoon hours
  • Playing and socializing with the puppies
  • Petting and brushing the cats
  • Filling the "Kongs" ( Kongs are rubber chew toys that the dogs get to have as a treat)
  • Deep cleaning the shelter
  • Assisting the staff as needed
  • Outreach and Community events
  • Yard and building maintenance
  • Foster Homes
  • "Roadside Rescue Drivers"
"Just Save One"
Sounds pretty easy, but in reality it can be a large, but rewarding undertaking.

HART has a new campaign that we are hoping will work to save the lives of shelter animals.
If everyone chooses one animal and advocates for it to get a forever home, the lives of the animals at HART would be so much better.

You can do this in a couple of ways:  You can become a Foster Home and take care of animals before they are placed in a new home. You can come to the shelter and choose an animal that you'd like to help; take pictures of this animal, talk to friends, family, co-workers, and tell them about your "Save". Click here for more information.

It can be a real rewarding to pick out an animal and "Save Just One"  Think of how many animals you can save, just one at a time.

If you are interested in becoming a "Saver" please contact Donna at 828-0548 or talk with the shelter staff.
